Overview
The Himachal Chamber Of Commerce and Industries (HCCI) has been selected as one of the Industrial Clusters (IC) for the Skills Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement (STRIVE) project in Himachal Pradesh. This project, funded by the World Bank, aims to enhance skills and provide employment opportunities to the youth of the state.
Under the STRIVE project, HCCI-IC will be responsible for training apprentices and placing them in various industries across Himachal Pradesh. This initiative not only provides hands-on experience to the students but also offers a stipend, technical and behavioral training, and prepares them for the National Apprentice Certificate (NAC) issued by the Government of India. Upon successful completion of the training, the apprentices are offered placement at member establishments if they are found suitable.
Project Overview and Objective
The Skills Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement (STRIVE) project has been developed by the Government of India to promote necessary institutional reforms in the training system, specifically the ITIs (Industrial Training Institutes) and apprenticeships. The primary goal of this project is to provide skilling opportunities to the youth of India, including those from economically disadvantaged and underserved communities, and to develop a globally competitive workforce.
The STRIVE project aims to improve access to quality vocational training provided in ITIs and apprenticeships, making them more market-driven. By empowering and capacitating MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) to participate in the formal apprenticeship system, the project adopts a cluster approach. This approach focuses on modernizing the apprenticeship training systems through the provision of Industry Apprentice Initiative (IAI) Grants to industry clusters.
Through the STRIVE project, the Government of India seeks to create a conducive environment for skill development and employment generation. By aligning the training programs with industry requirements, the project aims to bridge the gap between the skills possessed by the youth and the demands of the job market. This will not only enhance the employability of the youth but also contribute to the overall economic growth of the country.
The HCCI, as an Industrial Cluster (IC) under the STRIVE project, is dedicated to providing quality training and placement opportunities to the youth of Himachal Pradesh.
